What is Search Engine Optimization (SEO)
Search engine optimization is the term for properly designing, structuring, and keywording your web site to maximize its exposure on the Internet. Many people think top ranking sites simply pay the engines to be ranked number one. Others think there's a secret to ranking high on the search engines, and if they just knew that one secret, their web site could rank high overnight.

The fact is, SEO is quite simple, but it's not necessarily easy. It takes time to build a web site with quality information (content), and then work with other webmasters to link to that information. Search engine marketing is an ongoing process that never stops. In fact, when you stop adding fresh, new content to your web site, and you stop marketing the site, it will eventually lose what ranking it's achieved.

Search engines like to find living, breathing web sites that are constantly changing and adding new information. After all, that's originally what search engine ranking was all about. It was about indexing and ranking web sites with the most relevant information to the search queries entered into it.
